The Dell Streak is Now in the Philippines

The Dell Streak is now in the Philippines.  This 5-inch Android tablet has been announced a long time ago and has been made available in the US for quite some time now.  However, it has only been recently that the device has been made available to Filipino consumers.

Being an Android device, the Dell Streak promises a great web browsing experience, multi-tasking capability, and a great way to enjoy your photos, movies and music.  The Dell Streak boasts of a high density 5-inch Gorilla Glass screen and a 10mm thin form factor.  At 5 inches, the Dell Streak is a very portable Android tablet.

Here’s a quick overview video of the Dell Streak.

In terms of hardware, the Dell Streak features the following:

  • 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA (800×480) display
  • 1GHz Snapdragon ARM-based mobile processor from Qualcomm
  • 5 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • A user-removable (and replaceable) battery
  • A 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Integrated 3G + Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + Bluetooth 2.1
  • UMTS / GPRS / EDGE class 12 GSM radio with link speeds of HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA
  • Micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB

The Dell Streak is priced at Php27,000.   You can check one out at Memo Xpress, Gadgets in Style, Dell Concept Store, TCA, Complink, Siena Mobile and Rockstar Mobile.

The question now is, will the Dell Streak be worth the steep price considering the Android devices that have been made available recently?  The 5-inch screen size of the Dell Streak may be the perfect size for some but others may prefer the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, which is way cheaper than the Streak. They might also prefer the Apple iPad 2 over the streak.

And 5-inches is also almost near the 4.3 inch territory which is occupied by a lot of Android smartphones.  You may therefore want to consider the current crop of dual-core Android phones which are being offered at lower price points than the Dell Streak.
