Nokia N9 Meego Phone Specs, Features Release Date

 

Nokia just announced the N9 at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore today.  The Nokia N9 is dubbed as “the first-ever pure touch smartphone” which focuses on using apps, getting notifications and switching between different activities. Navigating the UI is said to be simpler with the use of simple gestures and a swipe of a finger.

Main Features

Swipe

All that’s needed to use the Nokia N9 is a simple gesture, a swipe of the finger, an intuitive way to use all the different features and functions. Whenever you are in an application, you just need to swipe from the edge of the screen to go back home.

Unibody

The Nokia N9 has a one-piece, unibody design and sports a 3.9 inch curved glass AMOLED display. The phone uses an innovative laminated display technology which makes it look like applications are floating on top of the screen. The body of the Nokia N9 is made from polycarbonate material which makes implementing a better antenna system possible. Storage capacities are 16GB and 64GB.

No Buttons

The Nokia N9 is a “pure touch screen phone” without any front-facing buttons at all. If you want to unlock the screen, you just double-tap the screen.

Home Views

The N9 uses three home views arranged in a carousel: 1) Applications 2) Events for social networking feeds and notifications for calls, texts, calendar events, etc. 3) Open applications for switching between live apps.  Nokia claims that the N9 delivers the best multitasking experience.

8MP Camera

The N9 uses an 8MP auto focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and super wide 28mm lens. It captures HD video and supports true 16:9 resolution photos.

Maps

The Nokia N9 has the latest Nokia Maps with free, voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation for walking and driving.

NFC-enabled

N9 supports NFC. NFC-enabled accessories is claimed to be easier by doing Bluetooth pairing only once.
