Nokia Siemens Networks Opens NetworkLabs in the Philippines

A Nokia Siemens Network (NSN) research and development facility just opened in the Philippines.  President Benigno Aquino III inaugurated today the NSN’s research and development facility at the University of the Philippines-Ayala Technohub.

“The newly constructed NSN NetworkLabs is a one of its kind and a first ever R&D facility in Southeast Asia that is internationally recognized in the telecommunications industry as it services and supports all R&D teams around the world,” the Presidential Communications Operations Office said in an article.

Nokia Siemens Network said it chose the Philippines as its new hub for NetworkLabs in Asia over other countries due to the country’s vast resource of highly skilled engineering students and graduates from reputable universities and colleges such as Mapua Institute of Technology, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University,” the PCOO article continued.

Included in the President’s schedule was a tour of the company’s facilities and an informal interaction with software engineers.
