Tonino Lamborghini Replies to Globe’s Statement, Says Primo Mobile is Not Authorized

 

 Things are getting more exciting.  A couple of days ago a I posted about Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l.’s press release accusing Globe’s Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini as being fake.  Tonino Lamborghini claims that Globe is not authorized to use its name and went as far as saying that Globe’s use of TONINO LAMBORGHINI is “deceitful and unlawful”.

Yesterday, Globe issued an official statement, claiming that it has secured a license from Singaporean company Primo Mobile which, Globe says, is a master licensor of the mark TONINO LAMBORGHINI and is duly authorized to sub-license the same.

Now, Tonino Lamborghini is denying Globe’s claims.  According the the Italian company, Primo Mobile was granted only a trademark license, not a master license or a master franchise, and said trademark license has already expired months ago.  Here’s Tonino Lamborghini’s statement which it posted on its Facebook page.

Tonino Lamborghini Group wishes to clarify that Primo Mobile had been granted only a trademark license – neither a master license nor a master franchise – but such trademark license agreement was duly terminated by the licensor, Tonino Lamborghini s.r.l., some months ago. In any case, such trademark license agreement did not authorize Primo Mobile to sub-license the use of the Tonino Lamborghini trademark and logo.

From how the things are unfolding, it appears that Globe is not a holder of a valid license.  If Tonino Lamborghini is vehemently denouncing Primo Mobile’s authority, there could be a valid reason for that.  Globe’s error, it appears, is it failed to verify Primo Mobile’s claims.  Hopefully this thing gets settled soon.
