Nexus Prime to be Called Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Specs Leaked Ahead of Launch

After Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 4S, people are now awaiting the unveiling of the next Google Nexus phone. Samsung and Google have scheduled an event on October 11 that so far only tells that “something big is coming”. This something is expected to be the next Google phone, codenamed Nexus Prime.  It appears that the handset will now get the name Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

BGR claims that a trusted source has already revealed the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and from what has been detailed so far, the specs are quite impressive. Here are the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus according to BGR:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Nexus Prime) Specifications

  •  Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 9mm thin
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 32GB of built-in storage
  • 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
  • 1080p HD video capture support
  • LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • NFC
  • 1,750 mAh battery

Like previous Nexus phones, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to be a pure Google Android experience, so the handset will not have Samsung’s TouchWiz skin even if it carries the Galaxy name. I found the Nexus S a bit thick for my taste. If the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is something as thin as the device shown in the teaser video, it could be my next Android phone, of course only if the price is reasonable.
