Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unveiled, Specs and Release Date Revealed

 

The Galaxy Nexus is now official. Google and Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy Nexus at an event in Hong Kong. What was previously rumored as the Nexus Prime has been launched as the Galaxy Nexus.

Bigger phones seem to be the trend these days.  Samsung previously unveiled the Galaxy Note and HTC has the Titan and the Sensation XL which all have big displays. Now Galaxy Nexus joins the group with its 4.65-inch screen. Ice Cream Sandwich, the new version of Android runs the Galaxy Nexus. The specs are quite impressive. The handset features an HD Super AMOLED display (with 1280 x 720 resolution), a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage space, 1,750mAh battery, 5 megapixel rear camera (with LED flash), a 1.3 megapixel front-facing cam, 1080p video recording and playback, a panorama mode, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 3.0. There’s also USB 2.0, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, NFC-capability, accelerometer, compass, gyro, proximity sensor and a barometer. The plan is to release an HSPA+ and an LTE version.

Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich makes the Galaxy Nexus a formidable handset. The new OS has an an entirely new look and feel and features a redesigned user interface and new multitasking, full NFC support, a new People app that integrates with Google+, Face Unlock which uses facial recognition to unlock the handset, and Android Beam, an NFC-based technology that lets users share webpages, apps and other stuff by simply tapping two phones together.
