The Siri is arguably one of the most-coveted features of the iPhone 4S. It is one of the reasons the iPhone 4S has had impressive run so far in terms of sales. A few people have already tried to port Siri into non-iPhone 4S devices like the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch but while they were able to successfully port the app, they were not able to get the app to work fully. Siri needs Apple’s servers for it to really function as the servers do the algorithms and the processing of information.
Now someone has successfully hacked Siri and made it to work 100% on an iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch. A developer named Steven Troughton-Smith has revealed to 9to5Mac that he has ported Siri to an iPhone 4 and iPod Touch including the ability to talk to Apple’s servers. According to Troughton-Smith, the process of porting Siri needs about 20 steps but it appears that he is working on having the process shortened. Here is a video showing a fully-functional Siri on the iPhone 4.
And here is a video showing Siri working on a 4th generation iPod Touch. Troughton-Smith commented, however, that the iPod Touch’s microphone is weaker than the iPhone’s so a user has to speak louder for Siri to pick up the commands.
