Acer Iconia Tab A200 Announced; See Specs, Price, Release Date

 

The Acer Iconia Tab A200 Android tablet is now official.  Through a press release, Acer officially announced the newest tablet to take a stab at Apple’s iPad 2.

The Acer Iconia Tab A200 will have a 10.1-inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolution and will run Android Honeycomb out of the box but a future version to be released in January 2012 will run Ice Cream Sandwich and early adopters get a free ICS upgrade.  In charge of powering up the Acer Iconia Tab A200 is NVIDIA’s 1GHz Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM.   It will feature a 2 megapixel front facing camera, a full-size USB port, and micro-SD slot.

Special features of this Android tablet include the “Acer Ring”, which is actually a multitasking manager the “SocialJogger” an app that consolidates Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, and a Screenshot functionality known to be absent in most Android devices.

Colors available for the Acer Iconia Tab A200 are Titanium Gray or Metallic Red.  This will be available in December before the holidays.   There’s no official pricing yet but it’s expected to be less than US$500.
