Lenovo U300s Ultrabook and Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet Launched in the Philippines

 

At an event held at Dillinger’s bar in Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, Lenovo officially launched two new products for the Philippine market – the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s ultrabook and the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet.  I was there to witness the unveiling of the new devices and all I can say is that I was impressed with their design and features.

Lenovo U300s

Lenovo cites a research by IHS iSuppli as one of the reasons it has joined the ultrabook wars. According to the research firm, the mobile PC market is embracing the new ultrabook platform and will account for more than 40 percent of all notebooks by 2015.

As a first ultrabook offering, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s is set to impress.  It combines a full-metal stylish design, long battery life, and the latest notebook technologies.  The 13.3” U300s is ultrathin at only 0.6 inches (14.9mm) with a bodybuilt from a single-piece aluminum shell.  It’s also lightweight, weighing only less than three pounds.

The IdeaPad U300s is proof that sexy can also be powerful.  The notebook is powered by up to 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and is equipped with Enhanced Experience 2.0 RapidDrive SSD technology that speeds up boot up time in as little as 10 seconds.   Lets look at the IdeaPad U300s’ technical specs.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s will be available by early January and is priced at P55, 995.  It comes in two colors – Graphite Grey and Clementine Orange.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet

Apart from the IdeaPad U300s, Lenovo also launched the ThinkPad Tablet, an Android tablet that’s geared towards business users.  This is the second tablet launched in the Philippines by Lenovo, the first being the IdeaPad Tablet K1

The ThinkPad Tablet is offers a 10.1” WXGA (1280×800) display with an IPS display for a 178-degree viewing angle and scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and weighs 0.75 kg. It features an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor that offer improved multitasking, faster web browsing, console-quality gaming, and low power consumption.

The ThinkPad Tablet has a lot of features for mobile business professionals. It is preloaded with a full version of Documents to Go app for Microsoft Office editing and also has an optional digitizer pen that allows functions such as open, click, drag, swipe, etc. with more precise controls, or users can jot down notes that automatically convert to digital text through preloaded apps like FlexT9 and Notes Mobile. There is also a Keyboard Folio for more convenient typing and mouse control.

The ThinkPad Tablet also has a lot of connectivity options for users. It has a micro-USB port, a built-in, full-size SD card reader, full-size USB port, mini-HDMI port and Lenovo’s unique file copy utility. It also offers 2GB free cloud storage.

ThinkPad Tablet customers will also have access to Lenovo’s full portfolio of enterprise-level services, such as ThinkPlus Support that offers direct access to Lenovo’s technical support team, and Tablet Protection, which gives customers coverage for non-warranted damage.

Data can be safeguarded using security features that include full device and SD card encryption, port blockers and secure email access. The ThinkPad Tablet comes preloaded with McAfee Mobile Security app. In case of theft, the ThinkPad Tablet has a pre-enabled Computrace Mobile app that can remotely track the tablet down, disable it and/or delete sensitive data. Additional security features include virtual application support with Citrix, simple zero-touch deployment with LanDesk and secure email support available from Good Technology.

The 32GB ThinkPad Tablet will be available in December 2011 with pricing that starts at P28,000.
