Nokia Lumia 900 Unveiled, Features Windows Phone Mango, Decent Specs

The Nokia Lumia 900 with Windows Phone Mango was just made official at the CES event in theUS.  The design looks exactly like the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia N9 but the Nokia 900 packs a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen.  The handset is powered by a single-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU accompanied by 512MB RAM.  The battery is good enough at 1840mAH and is expected to give users about seven hours talk time and 300 hours standby.  These hardware are quite unimpressive but Windows Phone Mango is quite fast enough so the fact that the phone is single core shouldn’t matter much.  Still, this is quite disappointing considering the hype around the Nokia Lumia 900.

To complete the specs, the Nokia Lumia 900 has an 8-megapixel back camera with a 28mm f/2.2 Carl Zeiss lens with a dual-LED flash, and in front is a f/2.4 wide-angle lens. The Nokia Lumia 900 is still interesting since it has an LTE modem so this should be interesting for places that have LTE networks.

The Nokia 900 will become available during the first quarter of 2012 and is exclusive to AT&T in the US for now.  As to pricing, the Nokia 900 will be priced aggressively so expect this to be  have the same price as the Nokia Lumia 800 or the Nokia N9.

I lost my iPhone 4S weeks ago and I am actually torn between getting this or buy a second 4S unit. I am a fan of the fact that this runs damn smoothly despite of the not-so-high-end hardware. I mean getting a 4S would give me the vast variety of apps, plus the sleekness and smoothness of the OS, however, I somehow think that for the specifications of the Lumia 900, the 27-30K price range is just too high – due to the idea that the processors and all are not top-notch, and the availability of apps are way limited, and apps in the MS marketplace are actually quite pricey.

The HTC One X also looks promising but knowing Android, it’s fast and smooth during your first few weeks of device usage, and begins to lag once you start filling your phone with contents – this is one reason why I think I am an Android-hater.

  2. Looks like Windows is learning from Apple. iMACs are running at underpowered PCs but they run intensely fast and it’s because of their OS. Might want to get the Lumia prolly this year. Looks like a promising phone. Processors are not everything.

  3. Too bad for Nokia, before Lumia 900 reached shores other than US’ AT&T, people are already toying their competitors’ smartphones which specs are superior than Lumia 900. Too slow Nokia, too slow…
