LG Optimus Pad LTE Android Tablet Launched

LG just launched its very first LTE tablet called the LG Optimus Pad LTE.  The tablet boasts of a True HD IPS display measuring at 8.9 inches with 1280 x 768 resolution.  The tablet is rather slim with its 9.34mm frame and is also light at only 497 grams.  The LG Optimus Pad LTE should be fast enough since it packs a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm CPU.  The tablet also includes an 8 megapixel back camera and a 2 megapixel front shooter.

LG is rather generous with ports as the Optimus Pad LTE has an SD card (not microSD but SD) slot that supports modules up to 32GB, an HDMI port and DLNA certification.  The SD card support is a world-first according to LG.  The tablet’s battery is quite big at 6,800mAh and should offer a longer operating time, although if LTE is always on, it will suck out that battery juice easily.

The tablet will not ship with Ice Cream Sandwich though.  It will run Android 3.2 but Ice Cream Sandwich update should be just around the corner.

The Optimus Pad LTE will be made available first in South Korea.  As to availability in thePhilippines, this is rather sketchy since this is an LTE device and LTE support is not yet commercially available in the country.  But it’s of course possible for LG to launch the same tablet here without the LTE feature.
