Ainol Novo 7 Paladin and Ainol Novo 7 Elf, Two Affordable Android ICS Tablets

Android tablets are getting cheaper and cheaper.  I previously featured the $249 Asus Memo 370T tablet that sports a quad-core processor and an Ice Cream Sandwich OS, but that one is not available yet and will be coming during the second quarter of 2012.  The Memo 370T is a real steal at $249 but if you want something cheaper or you need a tablet now, you have Ainol tablets as alternatives, although the specs are not as impressive.

Ainol tablets are among the ultra cheap Android tablets being casually thrown at conversations nowadays.  If you’re not familiar with Ainol, it’s a manufacturer based in China and the company responsible for some of the cheapest tablets available today.   The two tablets from Ainol that have reached Philippines shores are the Ainol Novo 7 Paladin and the Ainol Novo 7 Elf, both 7-inch tablets running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.  Let’s look at the specs of these two tablets.

Ainol Novo 7 Paladin Specifications

  • 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display (840 x 480 resolution)
  • MIPS-Based XBurst 1.0GHz processor
  • Vivante GC860 444MH GPU
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 8GB memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD
  • 512RAM
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • No camera
  • No 3G, no Bluetooth

Ainol Novo 7 Elf Specifications

  • 7” Multi-touch capacitive touch screen with 1024×600 resolution
  • Allwinner A10 1.2GHz Cortex A8 Processor
  • Mali-400 GPU
  • Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich
  •  8GB memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD
  • 1GB RAM
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • 3800mAH Battery
  • 2 megapixel front camera
  • No 3G, no bluetooth
  • HDMI output at 1080p

These tablets are quite cheap considering the specs.  The Ainol Novo 7 Paladin retails in the Philippines for P5,800 while the Ainol Novo 7 Elf is priced at P8,800.  Not bad for Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets.  These tablets don’t have access to the Android Market though, so you’ll need to side load apps.
