Apple to Hold an Event in March to Launch the iPad 3?

Apple may launch the iPad 3 during the first week of March.  This is according to tech site AllThingsD which claims that it got the info from its sources. This is just a rumor of course but AllThingsD is quite reliable when it comes to these kinds of stuff.  Let’s wait and see if it will still be right this time around.

In any case, the rumor says that Apple will schedule a special event for the iPad 3 launch and the chosen venue is the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.  The availability of the iPad 3 is still unknown but if we base in in previous Apple launches, the iPad 3 could become commercially available within two or three weeks from launch.

If AllThingsD’s sources are right, the specs of the iPad 3 will be as rumored.  This means that the iPad 3 will have a form factor that’s not much different from the iPad 2 and it will sport a stunning 2048×1536 Retina Display.  The tablet will also run on a faster CPU but it’s not known if it will be dual-core or quad-core.  I believe Apple will be using dual-core but this is just a wild guess.

The rumor of a March launch was first reported by Bloomberg.  Bloomberg’s report also mentioned that the production for the iPad 3 has already started in Asia and that it will feature LTE  connectivity.
