Sony Cyber-shot TX55 Digital Camera Launched

Sony just launched the Cyber-Shot TX55 camera, touted as the world’s slimmest fashion camera at just 12.2 mm.  The Sony Cyber-Shot TX55 takes photos with up to 16.2 megapixel resolution using an Exmor R CMOS sensor.  It uses a technology called the ‘By Pixel Super Resolution’ to help boost the zoom range to 10x without quality loss at the maximum resolution of 16.2 megapixels.  The TX55 has a 3.3-inch Xtra Fine OLED wide touchscreen display that’s ideal for reviewing shots and movie clips.

According to Sony, the TX55 is the fist Cyber-Shot to feature a Picture Effect mode that offers artistic options using a range of in-camera image treatments.  There’s a total of seven Picture Effect options to choose from.  These are HDR Painting, Rich-tone Monochrome, Miniature, Toy Camera, Partial Colour, Pop Colour and Soft High-key.  The Cyber-shot TX55  also offers a Superior Auto mode that recognizes a wide range of shooting situations, automatically adjusting exposure and other settings.

For landscape shooters, the Cyber-shot T55 can take panoramic shots in high detail. It’s also capable of capturing scenes in 3D with its 3D Sweep Panorama and 3D Still Image features.  For shooting videos, the Cyber-shot TX55 takes Full HD in AVCHD format.

Sony is known for using proprietary storage media but with the Cyber-shot TX55, you can use microSD/SDHC memory cards apart from Memory Stick Micro (M2).

I’ll try to update this post for availability and pricing.
