Sarah Geronimo Sets New Twitter Trending Record for “Sarah G. Day”

 

Sarah G. Day has been trending on Twitter for 4 days now.  And for 3 straight days, it has occupied the number 1 spot on the trending topics list in the Philippines.  Sarah G. Day started  trending last Sunday, and the term was coined because Sarah Geronimo appeared on three ABS-CBN shows on that day, these shows being ASAP, The Buzz and Gandang Gabi Vice.  The shows were used to promote Sarah Geronimo’s new show Sarah G Live.  So for her fans, last Sunday was indeed Sarah Geronimo’s day.

Proving the power of Twitter users from thePhilippines, and from Sarah’s fans, the term Sarah G. Day trended worldwide on February 19 for 8 hours and 45 minutes.  This info is from Twitter tracking site twend.it.  This is the longest Twitter trend recorded for a Philippine-related topic.

This proves, among other things, that social networking is very popular in the Philippines and there are many Filipinos who are actively using these sites.  We have been known as the “social networking capital of the world” because of the number of Filipino users on Facebook.  It looks like we are also set t invade Twitter which, until now, is dominated by American users.

The topic Sarah G. Day is still the number one trending topic in the Philippines as of this writing.  If this continues, it may also get the record for the longest trending topic in the Philippines.
