Samsung Galaxy Chat Announced: Another BlackBerry Killer?

Samsung just unveiled another Android handset and this time, it has a physical QWERTY keyboard.  The new member of the Galaxy family is called the Samsung Galaxy Chat, and with the name, it is obvious that the handset is targeted at users who love to chat on their phones.  The Galaxy Chat has a Nature UX layer, similar to what is on the Samsung Galaxy S III.  It also has ChatON installed, a chat app that is Samsung-made and is present in current Samsung handsets.  ChatON gets a dedicated shortcut button on the Galaxy Chat.

The phone also has a bundled copy of Quick Office, making this ideal for business use.  With quick Office you can work with Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Samsung’s calendar app S Planner is also preinstalled.  The rest of the specs of the Galaxy Chat include a 3-inch screen touchscreen with 480 x 320 resolution, 4GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot and 2-megapixel back camera without flash.  It will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Samsung Galaxy Chat will be available starting July in Spain. It will gradually be rolled out to Europe, Latin America, Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and Southwest Asia.  There’s no word on pricing yet.  Samsung only mentioned that the Galaxy Chat will be launched at a competitive price point.

  1. BlackBerry is seriously in trouble. They probably should just suck up to Windows Phone OS.
