Acer Iconia Tab A110 to Run Jelly Bean, Competes with Nexus 7

Before the Nexus 7 came out, Acer unveiled the Iconia Tab A110 at the Computex event in June.  Acer said the 7-inch tablet will retail for less than $200, making it one of the most anticipated Android tablets.  Then Google’s Nexus 7 came, along with a Jelly Bean announcement, and the Iconia Tab A110 was suddenly forgotten.

Very recently, though, the Acer IconiaTab made an appearance in an online store, and the photos show the tablet running Jelly Bean, instead of Ice Cream Sandwich as originally reported.  This is good news, of course, as long as the price remains within the $200 range.  With Iconia Tab A110 running Jelly Bean, this makes it the first third-party tablet to run the latest Android OS, and it also makes it a Nexus 7 alternative.  The specs of the Acer Iconia Tab A110 are almost similar to the Nexus 7.  Apart from running the same Jelly Bean OS, both Acer’s tablet and the Nexus 7 feature a 7-inch display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and a single front-facing camera.

The Acer Iconia Tab A110 will however sport a lower resolution screen.  Its display carries 1024×600 resolution while the Nexus 7 sports a 1280 × 800 pixel display. The A110 will also have an HDMI output and a microSD card slot which are not available on the Nexus 7.  As to battery, the A110 will drain faster since it only has a 3420mAh battery, compared to the 4325mAh on the Nexus 7.

  1. Acer Iconia Tab A110 was shockingly unnoticed in the tablet market. You can’t blame on Google Nexus 7 tablet. Though, the device is pretty decent and has considered spectacular specs.

  3. I feel like the Acer tab is much better than the Samsung tab.  Hope to purchase one very soon and I guess Jelly Bean version will be awesome with many features

  4. You mean the Acer Iconia A110, in the title.  Losing my head over this, too.  Please let it land safely unharmed ( by greedy pricing ) on Philippine retail shores
