Apple To Hold Event on October 23, Possibly to Launch the iPad Mini

Just as the rumors foretold, Apple is holding an event on October 23.  Invites have been sent to members of the media in the US and as expected, the invites do not say what the event is for.  It’s almost sure, however, that the event will be for the launch of the iPad mini, the smaller version of the widely popular iPad tablet.  The invite, shown below, only says “We’ve got a little more to show you” but the reference to smaller iPad is very clear.

The iPad mini is rumored to have 7.85-inch display.  It’s a bit bigger than the 7-inch Android tablets but certainly smaller than the 10-inch tablets, including the iPad.  People think 7-inch is still too small so 7.85 inches should just be right.   Rumors also say that the iPad mini will feature an aluminium design with two color options just like the iPhone 5.  Nothing is certain, of course, but considering how Apple handled the iPhone 5 affair, some of these rumors could be true.

The pricing for the iPad mini is one of the most awaited announcements.  Considering the $199 price of the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD, Apple is pressured into offering the iPad mini at a low price.  It is expected that Apple will offer the iPad mini from as low as $249 to around $399.

Apple is also rumored to unveil a new full-sized iPad with refreshed specs and a lighting connector,  a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro and a refreshed iMac design.  October 23 is just a few days away so we will know very soon what Apple has in store for us.

  1. I am very excited for the iPad Mini! I have heard all sorts of rumors about what the specs will be, and one that I hope is true is that it will be in a variety of colors. I know I will definitely be one to buy the Mini, just for the fact it will fit better in my hands and my purse. I would still keep my regular iPad as well to use in the home. I am very excited for the announcement on Tuesday, because I have been looking for a smaller tablet ever since my co-worker from DISH was talking about the rumors. I really just want it to be able to take it with me out of the house, especially with all the new shows and new fall season here, to watch live TV on the DISH Remote Access app so I don’t have to miss any of the shows this season. I know the iPad Mini will most likely be a little more expensive than the other small tablets, but it will be well worth it.
