Starmobile Crystal Now Availabe, Priced at P7,990

Starmobile is a new name in the local mobile phone industry but with the line of handsets it has released in the market so far, it seems like it wants to really make a name fast.  The success of brands like Cherry Mobile and Torque could have inspired Starmobile and other brands like DTC to take a piece of the action and offer their own products to budget-conscious Filipinos.

One of the newest offerings from Starmobile is the Crystal handset.  The Starmobile Crystal runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not the latest which is Jelly Bean, but ICS is not that bad at all.  ICS is fast enough and the features are great, though Jelly Bean is better.  If you really need to update to Jelly Bean and you are considering the Starmobile Crystal, make sure you inquire from the retailers if there’s a Jelly Bean update lined up in the future.  Or of course you can resort to rooting the handset.

In any case, the Starmobile Crystal sports a 4.5-inch qHD display with 540×960 pixel resolution.  It runs on a 1GHz dual-core processor which is not impressive by current standards, but should be fast enough for normal mobile computing needs.  The rest of the main specs include a 4GB storage expandable via microSD slot, 512 of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera and 1700mAh battery.  Here are the main specs of the Starmobile Crystal.

Starmobile Crystal Specifications

  • 1GHz dual-core MTK 6577 processor
  • PowerVR SGX531 graphic card
  • 4.5-inch qHD display (540×960 pixel resolution)
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 4GB internal storage expandable via microSD
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • 1700mAh battery

In terms of design, the Starmobile Crystal looks decent enough and actually reminds me of a few Alcatel handsets.  It’s available in black and white colors.  The Starmobile Crystal is priced at P7,990.
