Sony Xperia Tablet Z Announced

After a few leaks, Sony has formally announced the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.  The official product matches the leaked images, so there’s really nothing surprising about the 10-inch tablet’s design.  If this is the first time you’re seeing photos of the Xperia Tablet Z, I’m sure you find the design of the device quite sleek.  It’s a boxy affair overall but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  Some people like their devices boxy and I’m one of those people.  It’s actually in line with the design of the latest Xperia phones.

What makes the Sony Xperia Tablet Z more attractive is its super slim profile.  At only 6.9mm-thick, the Xperia Tablet Z is a currently the slimmest 10-inch tablet around.  When it comes to gadgets, especially phones and tablets, slim is definitely better.   The Xperia Tablet Z is also the lightest tablet in the 10-inch category.  It weighs only 495 grams which makes it a true lightweight mobile device.

In terms of hardware, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z matches some of the best tablets today.  The Android 4.1 tablet packs a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 screen (with Mobile Bravia Engine 2) and is powered by a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.  It has 32GB built-in storage with microSD expansion and also features an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, NFC, LTE and 6,000mAh battery.

Pricing and availability are still unknown at this point.
