The iPad mini is popular nowadays. It may be late in the “small tablet” game but it is nonetheless ahead of the pack and it seems like the momentum will not be slowing down anytime soon. For the big tablets like the iPad and other 10 inchers, there are several keyboards available in the market. It’s only natural that manufacturers are also making keyboards for the iPad mini.
The recent brand to announce a keyboard companion for the iPad mini is Logitech. The keyboard is called the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini. It obviously borrows the “mini” from the name of the iPad it is supposed to be paired with. This keyboard doubles as a protective case so it’s like getting two products for the price of one.
The keyboard looks slim and sleek and it greatly complements the appearance of the iPad mini. Logitech makes great mobile keyboards and I was even able to review one in the past, although that one was for the bigger iPad. The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini offers full-size keys despite the size. It attaches securely to the iPad mini using integrated magnets and has a slim aluminum cover that Logitech says is light yet still durable. The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini connects to the iPad min via Bluetooth with functional keys and shortcuts that should make your life easier if you’re an iPad mini owner. It cab even function as a stand so you can watch movies or read without having to hold the tablet.
The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard mini also has an instant On/Off feature just like the one featured on Apple’s Smart Cover. The iPad mini automatically wakes up when you open the cover and switches to standby when you close it. If you’re worried about the battery life of the keyboard, Logitech claims it lasts up to three months. What you should be worried about, however, is the battery life of yout iPad mini since the keyboard connects via Bluetooth.
The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard for iPad mini is priced at $80 and will first be available in the U.S. and Europe starting February 2013 and should be available in other countries afterwards. Availability in the Philippines is still not known at this point.
