Acer Iconia W3 is the First 8-inch Windows 8 Tablet

Acer unveiled a new Windows 8 tablet at Computex 2013.  The new tablet is the Acer Iconia W3 and it features an 8.1-inch display, the first ever Windows 8 tablet at this size, or at any size smaller than 10 inches for that matter.   Windows 8 tablets have been at 10 inches or bigger before the Iconia W3 but if consumer feedback is to be considered, a lot of users want Windows 8 tablets on tablets with smaller sizes.  The 8-inch Iconia W3 is a start but it’s only a matter of time before some manufacturer makes a 7-inch Windows 8 device.

The hardware specs for the Iconia W3 include an Intel dual-core 1.8GHz Atom Z2760 processor, 2-megapixel front- and rear-facing cameras, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, a micro-HDMI port and a micro-USB port.  The Acer Iconia W3’s 8.1-inch LED-backlit display features a 1280 x 800 resolution.  It is available in 32GB and 64GB variants but internal storage is expandable vie microSD slot so it doesn’t matter which variant you get.  The Iconia W3 weighs just over a pound and measures about half an inch thick.  Battery life is said to be at eight hours.
