Acer Liquid S1 Announced, Features 5.7-inch Display, Quad Core CPU

Acer just announced the Liquid S1, an Android phone with a 5.7-inch display.  It’s Acer’s first entry to the phablet category.  At 5.7 inches, this is almost nearly a tablet more than a phone.  But Samsung has blurred the lines when it comes to the sizes of these devices so if Acer says the Luqid S1 is a phablet, then it’s a phablet.

The Acer Liquid S1’s display features a 720p HD display with 1280 x 720 resolution.   It packs a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, a potent combination that should translate to a fast performance.    This phablet has 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD slot.  Though the screen is huge, Acer says the phablet will last a day in a single charge since it packs a 2,400mAh battery which, mind you, is replaceable.  The Acer Liquid S1 will come in single and dual-SIM card variants and will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.  If you’re looking for LTE connectivity, look somewhere else as the Acer Liquid S1 has no LTE radio.

The Acer Liquid S1 works with AcerCloud Docs, a cloud service from Acer.  It features a “Float User Interface” which lets users see apps on a transparent screen floating above open apps.

The Acer Liquid S1 will be available in black and white colors and will be available during the third quarter.  It is priced at around $427.  There’s no word if the Liquid S1 will be released in the Philippines.
