Cherry Mobile Fusion Wave and Fusion Wind with MF1 Tablets Announced

Cherry Mobile is one of the local brands that offer quite a formidable line-up of phones and tablets.  It has quite a number of Android phone offerings but now the local company appears to doing to tablets what it did to phones, that is, bombard the public with as many models as possible.

There are two new tablets under the Cherry Mobile brand, the Fusion Wave and the Fusion Wind with MF1.  The Fusion Wave is the more expensive of the two as it has better specs compared the Fusion Wind.  The Fusion Wave is an 8-inch device so we know that Cherry Mobile is pitting this against the iPad mini.  Let’s therefore call the Cherry Mobile Fusion Wave as “the people’s  iPad mini”.  The Cherry Mobile Fusion Wave tablet features a Samsung-made 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor paired with 1GB of RAM and offers 8GB of storage.  Nothing’s mentioned if the storage is expandable but my guess is it’s not.  It has a 2MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.  It is powered by a huge 5100mAh battery and runs Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which is a shocker considering that the cheaper Fusion Wind already runs Jelly Bean. The Wave is priced at P7,499, making it just slight cheaper than the base Nexus 7 model.  If you’d ask me which one I’ll pick between the Nexus 7 and the Cherry Mobile Fusion Wave, I’ll choose the Nexus 7 in a heartbeat.

The other new tablet from Cherry Mobile is the Fusion Wind with MF1.  It’s also an 8-incher but with lesser specs compared to the Wave.   The Cherry Mobile Fusion Wind, as mentioned earlier, runs Jelly Bean.  However, the tablet only has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a VGA font camera, 4GB of internal storage and 4000mAh battery.   The Fusion Wind is priced at P5,999.  For only P1,500 more you can already get the Wave so if you must really choose between the two, go for the Wave.
