Sound Band, the Headset without Speakers

There’s a product gathering Kickstarter funding called Sound Band.  It’s a headset device that does away with the earbuds or speakers, keeping your ears open in case you need to hear the other sounds around you.

It’s inconvenient to use ear buds sometimes.  It tends to get uncomfortable and it also blocks the noise around you.  Sound Band is a wireless headset that uses surface sound technology to deliver sound to your ears.  That simply means that sound travels through the skin at the back of your ears.  Specifically, Sound Band uses the tissues and bones in your head to conduct sound waves.

Sound Band is compatible with Android and Apple devices and practically any wireless-enabled device.  It can be used to listen to music, make phone calls or to listen to just about any other wireless personal audio.

Here’s a video posted on Kickstarter featuring the Sound Band.

The Sound Band is an innovative device with a nice design.  The only thing I don’t like is that thing hanging at the back of the neck.  I know it’s supposed to do some wireless magic of sorts but it could have been made more appealing.

Sound Band is expected to retail for only $189 when it becomes commercially available, which is quite affordable considering what this gadget can do.  Go here if you want to learn more about Sound Band.

  3. there have been similar products already released in the market. The problem with these  is that they don’t transmit low frequencies well, so they are not definitely for bassheads.

    • @rey for this one it appears that they will transmit low frequencies.  it uses maxxbass technology, the pioneer of that psychoacoustic bass enhancement stuff
