Nokia Working on a 6-inch Phablet Code-named Bandit

It’s nice that Nokia is doing everything to make Windows Phone OS relevant in a smartphone market dominated by Android and iOS.  Nokia is the single most important manufacturer for Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS and with a few hits on its belt, Nokia appears to be getting some success with the OS.

Nokia’s Lumia line is peppered with several models and very recently, the Nokia Lumia 1020 took the title as the best Windows Phone to date.  Nokia is reportedly following this up with a huge 6-inch device code-named Bandit.  The Bandit is a Windows Phone 8 device that will finally feature a full HD 1080p display.  Windows Phone 8 currently only supports up to 720p display but Microsoft is said to be improving the OS and will soon allow devices to have full HD display.  The Windows Phone UI will also be changed a little and will soon have extra live tiles according to reports.

The Nokia “Bandit” will also have a quad-core processor from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon variants and will feature a rumored 20-megapixel camera.  That’s not as impressive as the 41-megapixel camera on the Lumia 1020 but it’s still a lot considering that currently, majority of devices feature only 13-megapixel cameras.

In terms of design, the 6-inch Bandit will have the familiar Lumia design, will be also be made of polycarbonate and will have a slight hump on the back just like the Lumia 1020.
