Sony Xperia Z1 Drop Test

It’s a standard these days so don’t feel bad about premium, high end devices undergoing the usual drop test.   Android Authority, a tech blog that does drop tests on top devices regularly, is at it once again. This time around, the Sony Xperia Z1 takes center stage.

The Sony Xperia Z1 was dropped three times.  It was dropped on its back, on its bottom and on its face.  Sony proudly declares that the Xperia Z1 is shatterproof and scratchproof.  Did the phone survive three drops?  Remember that the iPhone 5s shattered after three drops.  Could the Sony Xperia Z1 perform better?

If you watched the video of the drop test, you know that although the Sony Xperia Z1 only got scratches on the actual areas of impact, its screen and back cover did not shatter.  However, when the phone was turned on, it no longer worked.  This means that while the enclosure and the materials used by Sony are sturdy, the internals still suffer from drops.
