Apple has renamed the new iPad. It has dropped the number at the end so it’s not called the iPad 5 although it is technically the fifth iteration of the iPad. The new tablet is called the iPad Air, and there is a reason for this. The iPad Air is so much lighter than the original at only 1 pound and it is also thinner at only 7.5mm.
Among other improvements include the use of a faster A7 chip that’s found on the iPhone 5s. In terms of design, the iPad Air follows the design elements of the iPad mini including the thinner bezels on the side. For battery life, the iPad Air still lasts 10 hours on a single charge.
The iPad Air is priced at $499 for the basic model and $629 for the LTE variant. The iPad Air will be available starting November 1. It will be available in white and silver and black and space gray color configurations.
If you are interested in getting the older iPad, it is now priced at only $399.
