Qualcomm Toq Smartwatch Available on December 2, Priced at $350

It’s a given that smartwatches will be a big thing in the future based on the trend that we are seeing now.  Smart watches from Sony, Samsung and the upcoming product from Apple make the industry abuzz with new products and countless of rumors.  The earlier smartwatches like Pebble has proven that smartwatches has an audience and that they can actually enhance user experience.  Right now practically all products are imperfect and unpolished but people should wait for the Apple iWatch as it could prove to be the real smartwatch people may find perfect.

In any case, Qualcomm, the chip manufacturer, has its own version of a smartwatch called Toq.  The Qualcomm Toq distinguishes itself from other smartwatches by using a color Mirasol display that uses ambient light, boasting of better outdoor visibility.  It also uses a WiPower LE wireless charging technology so chargin should be quick and easy.  For battery life, the Qualcomm Toq promises 3 days on a single charge.

The Qualcomm Toq is compatible with Android phones running 4.0.3 and above.  Basic smartwatch functions like notifications and reception of calls are available.  Toq uses optional wireless stereo headset for taking calls.

If you are shopping for a smartwatch, you should know that the Samsung Galaxy Gear is priced at $280 while the Sony SmartWatch 2 is priced at $170.  Qualcomm’s Toq is therefore priced high so you should first try to find out of the features are worth the bigger price.
