Asus Brings ZenFone Series to Southeast Asia, Starting with Jakarta

Asus recently launched it’s ZenFone series in Jakarta. Originally announced at CES earlier this year, the Asus ZenFone series is powered by Intel processors, and will come in three screen sizes, 4, 5 and 6-inches. Already available in Taiwan and China, the smartphones will soon be coming to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.

No news yet on when it will come to the Philippines, but I’m hoping it does soon, considering the decent mid-range specs and price.

ASUS ZENFONE 4

The 4-inch model, hence the name ZenFone 4, comes with a TFT 800×480 resolution screen (233 ppi), 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 processor, PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU, 8GB of storage (+microSD), 1GB of RAM, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, dual sim support, and a 5MP rear shooter. The ZenFone 4 is powered by a 1,200 mAh battery. The smartphone comes in Charcoal Black, Pearl White and Cherry Red.

ASUS ZENFONE 5

Up next, the ZenFone 5 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280×720 resolution (294 ppi), a dual core 2.0GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor, PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU, 8GB of storage (+microSD), 1GB of RAM, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, dual sim support, an 8MP f/2.0 PixelMaster rear shooter, 2MP front, and a non-removable 2,110 mAh battery. It also comes in Champagne Gold and Twilight Purple, in addition to Charcoal Black, Pearl White and Cherry Red.

ASUS ZENFONE 6

Last but definitely not the least, the ZenFone 6 comes with some specs similar to its 5 inch brother, the difference only that this one comes with a 6-inch HD IPS display with 1280×720 resolution (245 ppi), 2GB of RAM, 13MP f/2.0 rear shooter, and a non-removable 3,300 mAh battery. It also comes in Champagne Gold ,Charcoal Black, Pearl White and Cherry Red.

The ZenFone series are 3G and HSPA+ only (no LTE) and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Asus ZenUI on top. According to the Taiwanese electronics giant, all three smartphones will be updated to Andriod 4.4 Kitkat.

PRICE

In Jakarta, the ZenFone 4 will go for 1,099,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around P4,500), the ZenFone 5 for 2,099,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around P8,500), and the ZenFone 6 for 3,099,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around P12,000).

If the ZenFone series are similar in quality to their laptops, and if they can maintain (or at least come close to) these price points if (or when) it gets here, I’m definitely going to bite.
