Xiaomi’s Mi3 – sold out in 17 minutes in Malaysia

We all know by now that Xiaomi is coming to the Philippines. Hopefully, they will be bringing with them the Mi3.

In Malaysia, it took less than 20 minutes for the Mi3 to go out of stock. Official figures point out that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer sold 4,000 units in 17 minutes. That’s how popular the $280 (around P12,500) Mi3 is. Not bad, considering that its a new entrant. I guess hiring former Google exec Hugo Barra is paying off big time for them.

We’re hoping XiaoMi gets here soon. Their smartphone offerings are really compelling. And if they are able to maintain the price point, it will most likely become as popular as Samsung’s and Apple’s devices. It will definitely disrupt the industry.

The Mi3 comes with a 2.3Ghz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, a 5 inch Full HD 1080p IPS display, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP f/2.2 rear cam. The smartphone is powered by a 3,050mAh battery, and runs Android 4.3 (Upgradeable to KitKat) with MIUI ROM on top. The body is made up of magnesium alloy frame coated with three layers of thermal graphite, making the device light and sturdy.

So what do you guys think? Will you get the Mi3 when it gets here?
