Microsoft kills Nokia Android phones

I guess that’s it for Nokia’s Android adventures. Microsoft announced that it’s finally killing off it’s Nokia X Android efforts. According to EVP of Microsoft Devices Stephen Elop, they are planning to deliver additional lower-cost Lumia devices by shifting select future Nokia X designs and products to Windows Phone devices, and are expecting to make this shift immediately while continuing to sell and support existing Nokia X products.

Although I was surprised when Nokia went ahead and released an Android phone (while in the midst of MS purchasing them), everyone knew it won’t last. I doubt Microsoft would allow the Nokia X Android project further development. It would have been nice to see Android on Nokia’s high end smartphones.
