Google Now Launcher Now Available to More Android Devices

During the weekend, the Google Now Launcher was made available to most Android devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher. Formerly a Nexus or Google Experience Phone exclusive, the launcher gives you access to Google Now with a quick swipe of the screen. With Google Now, you can get a quick look at different types of information, such as weather updates, sports news, restaurant recommendations, and even updates to your most visited sites. Additionally, you also get to use the “Ok Google” voice control (which is turned on by default in settings).

I think the Google Now Launcher is worth trying. I’ve been using it for a few months now (I side-loaded the APK) and its been great so far. The launcher itself has  some visual tweaks (like the larger app icons and a translucent status and navigation bars), as well as performance enhancements. On the my phone at least, the launcher is super smooth and very responsive.

If you want to try it, the Google Now Launcher is available for free at the Google Play store. Mind you, the launcher is as simple as it gets. There are no customization options or anything like that though. So give it a try and let us know what you think.
