LG G Flex 2 is a sexy, curvy 64-bit beast

It’s no secret that LG upgraded its innovation and design teams. Just look at what they did with last year’s G3 and its new UI. Recently, the Korean tech giant just upped the ante with the announcement of the LG G Flex 2 in CES 2015.

Let’s start with the G Flex 2’s standout feature – the curved display. LG used in-house developed plastic OLED (P-OLED) technology which allows flexibility and bending. The 5.5 inch display has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 401ppi. It arches at a 700mm radius; making for what LG claims a more immersive experience. It brings the mic closer to your mouth, while making the phone easier to hold and manage.

The screen is protected by LG developed glass cover, which the company is claiming to be 20% stronger than Gorilla Glass 3. The back still has the same self healing properties of its predecessor, but this time takes just 10 seconds to heal in room temperature.

Inside, the LG G Flex 2 is powered by a 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 810 processor and either 2GB LPDDR4 RAM (for 16GB storage) or 3GB (for 32GB). It will be faster and smoother too not just because it’s 64-bit, but because it will be rendering a less taxing 1080p display (vs. the G3’s Quad HD). It runs Android 5.0 with LG’s custom UI on top and a 3,000mAh battery with FastCharge capability (0 to 50% in 40 minutes).

The main camera uses a 13MP sensor, and features a dual LED flash, OIS+ and laser auto focus. The front camera uses a 2.1MP shooter.

In terms of connectivity, the phone features LTE Cat 6, 3G, dual-channel Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS / Glonass, and USB 2.0.

The LG G Flex 2 comes in Platinum Silver and Flamenco Red. It will be available first in South Korea starting at the end of the month, with other regions to follow.
