My Smart Life with Deezer

For months now, Deezer has been my main source of music. People who follow me on Facebook know this. And I think it’s a Godsend.

I was a skeptic at first

It wasn’t always like that though. I was skeptical to use music streaming services before. I was interested and I have tried, but a question always ringed in my head: why use this service when I can “get” my music through other means. I’m sure many thought of this, especially if you factor in how easy it was to get pirated content in our country.

But when I heard that Smart was offering Deezer as their music streaming service, I looked into it. I was getting tired of searching for and then downloading songs (and then transferring it to my phone; it was a tedious process), so this looked like a good deal. I subscribed to Smart’s Deezer premium service, thinking of trying it for one month (its Php250; comes with 250 texts and 100MB data, in case you wanted to know). And to my surprise, I enjoyed using it. And I’ve never looked back since.

3 reason I like Deezer

There are many reasons why I like Deezer. But for the purpose of this post I’d like to share 3 reasons why I fully embraced the service.

  • It’s more convenient. I like that I could just search for a song and then download through the app, than to download it on my laptop and then transferring it to my phone. It gets tedious, especially when I have to do it over and over again because I get tired of songs easily (read: madaling magsawa due to overplaying).
  • I like the Flow. The Flow is a playlist populated by Deezer’s song recommendations based on your listening behavior. And it’s pretty good. I like new songs. And found a lot of them that I didn’t know existed. I guess with over 35 million selections, I’m bound to like one or two of them.
  • Deezer Premium. No ads, higher audio quality, Offline Mode. Especially offline mode because it lets me to listen to music anytime, anywhere, even if I have no data connection.

Parting thoughts

When I tried the service, I honestly didn’t think I’d last more than a month. I had my doubts, but then one month turned to two, and then three. All of a sudden, it became a staple. It has changed the way I listen to music. The service changed my listening behavior. Looking for music was easier. Listening to music was more convenient. And I have Smart and Deezer to thank for it.
