Despite the leaks, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge wowed as both devices were showcased at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event. As expected, the images and specs that were leaked was spot on.

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge follow sleek design aesthetics that debuted with the Galaxy S6. Inside, you’ll find 64-bit octa-core processors and 4GB of RAM (Samsung PH declined to comment which processor is inside, but my money is on Exynos). Both feature capless, water and dust resistance with an IP68 certification, meaning it can be submerged in 15 meters of water in half an hour. It is also dust-tight.

The difference between the two, lie on the screen size and the battery capacity. The Galaxy S7 features a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display and 3,000mAh of power, while the Galaxy S7 edge features a bigger 5.5 inch dual-edge display and 3,600mAh.

Camera

The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge sport Samsung’s Dual Pixel camera that uses a dual photodiode technology, originally used in professional DLSR cameras, adopted for smartphones. Every pixel has two photodiodes that enable faster auto focus, while larger pixels and the brighter f/1.7 lens allows better low light shots.

Price

The Galaxy S7 will be priced at P34,990, while the Galaxy S7 edge at P39,990. You can preview, touch and poke the devices at Samsung Experience Stores starting March 4 to 16. For more information, you may visit www.samsung.com/ph.
