ASUS to Launch ZenFone 3 Series on May 30

Taiwanese tech giant ASUS is expected to launch the ASUS ZenFone 3 series during the Zenvolution press event this coming May 30 in Taiwan. The upcoming ZenFone has some big shoes to fill, as last year’s ZenFone 2 was one of 2015’s best (and one of our favorite) smartphones.

Some details of the ZenFone 3 and its Deluxe variant may have been leaked by the Red Dot Design website. According to Android Police, renders of both smartphones were posted, along with some details regarding its design.

Design wise, the ZenFone 3 will feature a “2.5D” glass front and back panels, an aluminum frame, a fingerprint sensor, a USB Type C port, laser autofocus, and front and rear LED flash modules. If the renders are to be believed, you’ll notice that there are buttons on the side, and a strip at the back  — which could very well be the fingerprint sensor. Also noticeable is ASUS’ concentric circle pattern design on the front and back panel.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe, on the other hand, will feature an all-metal build. It may follow a design language similar to that of the Samsung’s Galaxy S series. The render looks to have a home button, with another button visible on the smartphone’s side. Again, you could notice ASUS concentric circle patterns on the phone’s front panel.

Don’t forget that these are just leaked renders. The design and features mentioned may or may not be true. We’ll all find out the truth when the smartphone is officially announced on May 30.

Hopefully, ASUS follows the formula it used that made the ZenFone 2 a hit — that balance between good design, top-notch specs, stellar performance and an affordable price. For now, all we can do is wait and feel excited.
