LG G6 is now official

This year’s Mobile World Congress has come and gone. And one of the bigger stories (that I almost missed) is the unveiling of LG’s latest flagship, the LG G6.

It looks like LG has abandoned the modular build of the G5 and went with a new design instead. The latest G6 looks focused on multimedia, as the front is dominated by a large 5.7-inch FullVision quad HD+ display with an ultra-wide 18:9 aspect ratio and small bezels. The screen has a resolution of 1440 x 2880 and an eye popping pixel density of 564 ppi.

For the display, LG went with an unconventional 18:9 aspect ratio (as mentioned above), making the it longer than your average smartphone with a comparable screen size. I can assume this makes watching movies and videos, and playing games more immersive; while at the same time providing users more display real estate in a relatively smaller body.

The LG G6 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 530 processor. It’s not the latest out there (the Snapdragon 835 comes to mind) but it’s still more than capable of providing quality performance.

The LG G6 also feature dual 13MP cameras. One has a f1.8 aperture and the other f2.4. It still uses LG’s setup where one sensor provides a wide angle view.

The rest of the specs include a fast charging 3,300 mAh non-removable battery, NFC, a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor (at the back), and a headphone jack (which I feel should be mentioned in posts from now on).
