I’ve been using the Vivo V7+ for a more than a week as I finalize my review. And one of the more intriguing features I found is the Face ID.

The Vivo V7+ Face ID function easily “wakes up” the handset, simply by looking at it. It’s another security option that can work together with pattern unlock, PIN code and fingerprint. Once set up, Face ID works by bringing up the phone (in portrait mode) with you facing it. It’s fast and unlocks the phone almost instantly. It’s convenient, with no button presses needed.
And it’s smart too. I tried “tricking” Face ID with a photo, only to be refused with a “facial mismatch” error. And although it failed to unlock the phone when I contorted my face (yup, I tried it), the technology is smart enough to recognized me when I’m sporting a big smile or a very sullen pout (I registered a regular, expressionless look).

Priced at Php17,990, the Vivo V7+ features a 5.99-inch HD IPS all-screen display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and an 84.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 powers the device, paired with 4GB of RAM and a generous 64GB of storage.

As for the cameras, the Vivo V7+ boasts an industry leading 24MP selfie camera equipped with an f/2.0 lens, and comes with a LED flash called Moonlight Glow, Face Beauty 7.0, and a Portrait Mode which blurs the background. The 16MP rear camera has an f2.0 lens with phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. It has a large 1/3-inch sensor and 1080p video recording.
