Toshiba just announced the Protégé Z830 ultrabook. Now it’s Acer’s turn to reveal its own ultrabook offering.
Acer’s first ultrabook is the Aspire S3, previously leaked as the Acer 3951. The Acer Aspire S3 is ultra thin, measuring only 0.51 inches, and is also light at 1.3 kilograms. What you get in terms of hardware specs are a 13.3-inch (1366 x 768) display, ultra low voltage Core i3, i5 and i7 CPUs, solid-state storage or HDDs, Bluetooth 4.0, and an aluminum / magnesium alloy chassis.
The Acer Aspire S3 also features instant on access that wakes the notebook from sleep in 1.5 seconds, and instant connect that let’s you connect to a hotspot in two seconds.
Pricing is between €799 to €1,199. The Acer S3 ultrabook will be available by the end of September. Go here for the full press release.

Now the 13 inch ultrabook market is starting to feel a bit crowded. When
will there be a 15 inch ultrabook? I’m sure that there’s enough people
out there that would buy those over smaller models.
