Smart Communications is offering Facebook access for free to Smart subscribers starting June 8. Yes, that’s free access to Facebook using practically any kind of cellphone.
To use the service, Smart subscribers simply need to text FB to 211, then click on the download link which will be sent via SMS for free. Follow the instructions to get the ‘Facebook Mobile App’ which is always on, ready to use, unlimited, and for free. You must however have a P1 maintaining balance. The Facebook Mobile App works on basic but MMS-capable handsets using any ‘Java’ cellphone. There are 2,500 kinds of phones that are capable of running the Facebook Mobile App.
If you’re a user of mid-range internet-enabled phone or a smartphones, free access to Facebook is easier. Using the phone’s browser, access to m.facebook.com is free for all Smart subscribers. Users can make quick checks on news feeds, post comments, view profiles and photo albums, update status and read and send private messages.
Note, however, that access to Facebook is the only free service. When you click on a link to browse photos, videos, news articles or any other content outside of Facebook, regular charges will apply. Users must also set the Smart site m.smart.com.ph as their mobile browser’s home page to ensure that no charges will apply upon start of browsing.
