Sharp Releases Near-Bezeless Smartphone

Well this looks interesting. Sharp has recently unveiled a near-bezeless phone in the form of the Aquos Crystal. Although the chances of it coming to the Philippines is next to nil, this Android phone will be coming to Japan and the US (non-GSM).

What’s interesting about the Aquos Crystal is its design. Looking at the images, you’ll notice that there’s almost no bezels on the top and sides of it’s 5-inch screen. You’ll also notice that the front camera is located at the bottom.

Other specs include the 5-inch 720p screen, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage (+microSD), an 8MP main camera and a 1.2MP front camera.  It also has a Harman Kardon branded audio experience, and runs Android KitKat 4.4.2. Not bad.

Here is another image from GSM Arena. You could see how small the bezels are and how compact the phone is.

I wonder why Sharp doesn’t make this available to the rest of the world (or the Philippines in particular). It looks like a good phone, and they have presence here in the form of TVs and appliances. I mean, I would consider buying one if its available.
