OPPO Philippines brings it’s latest bang-for-the-buck smartphone, the OPPO Joy 3. The smartphone offers a smooth experience powered by the company’s ColorOS 2.0, a quad-core processor, and 1GB of RAM.
The event was held at Cafe Romulo in Makati. It was attended by select members of the media and the blogging community. Apparently, OPPO is spelled with all caps (who knew?).
OPPO Joy 3
The OPPO Joy 3 comes with a colorful 4.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 854 by 480. Inside, you’ll find a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and a Mali-400MP2 GPU. OPPO uses its proprietary ColorOS 2.0 ROM on top of Android KitKat 4.4. In terms of imaging, the device has a 5MP main camera with a large f/2.4 aperture. It uses OPPO’s Pure Image 2.0+ technology to ensure good image quality regardless of lighting conditions.
Quick Hands On
Looking at the OPPO Joy 3, you’ll quickly notice the metallic frame that runs around the edges of the device. It gives a nice detail to an otherwise ordinary design. The plastic back cover has a shiny finish for the white variant, and a matte one for the grey. The 4.5 inch screen is bright with good color saturation and above average viewing angles.
OPPO did a good job optimizing the ColorOS 2.0. We didn’t run any tests, but we found the UI to be generally fast so far. No doubt, having a 1.3GHz quad core processor helps.
So far, we were impressed with what we saw. Our initial impressions were generally positive. With its design, responsiveness and the ColorOS 2.0, the OPPO Joy 3 has a leg up against other smartphones in the same price range.

The OPPO Joy 3 has an SRP of PHP6,490. It is now available at OPPO concept stores and resellers.
