Congratulations OPPO! They are currently the second best selling smartphone brand in the Philippines.

OPPO is number 2

The report is according to German-based market research organization Gfk, crowning OPPO as second best selling smartphone brand in the country. In its latest survey, OPPO’s market share increased from 3.2 percent in July 2015 to 8.6 percent in July 2016. That’s more than double from the previous year, rising from the third spot in June 2016, to second last July.

“Our increasing shares show how we are able to capture what Filipinos want in a mobile device. We not only meet consumer demands for quality smartphones, but we also offer them at more affordable prices. This is an important factor that paved the way for our growth over the past year,” said Stephen Cheng, OPPO’s Brand Marketing Manager.

The rise in popularity may be attributed in part to the F1 series, a photography-centric line of smartphones that won over the Pinoy’s fondness for taking selfies. They introduced the OPPO F1 phone last February 2016, followed by the OPPO F1 Plus in April (which we reviewed; check it out here). And the OPPO F1s that launched last August (we covered the launch here), sold out in just three days.

With the F1 series popularity, OPPO is optimistic that the company will continue to grow its share of the market.

“OPPO will continue pursuing its growth in the market by indulging the Filipino fascination for taking selfies,” Cheng adds.
