Nokia 7: Specs

Nokia has released a new mid-range contender in the Nokia 7. HMD Global’s latest smartphone looks to highlight design elements found on the more expensive Nokia 8 — a 7000 series aluminum body and bothie cameras.

The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display, protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3. It uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a sharp 424 ppi.

Under the hood, the Nokia 7 is powered by an 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and an Adreno 508 graphics unit. It has 64GB of storage, which can be expanded via a microSD-hybrid SIM slot, and a fingerprint scanner mounted at the rear.

Other relevant specs include a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, an FM radio, and dual band Wi-Fi. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with an update to Oreo on the way.

Bothie Camera

The Nokia 7 boasts a 16MP rear camera, complete with an f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens, PDAF, and a dual LED flash. The front camera uses a 5MP sensor paired with a f/2.0 AF lens.

Like the Nokia 8, the phone is equipped with a Dual-Sight Mode, enabling bothies (really). Essentially, the phone makes use of the front and back cameras to include both the shooter and subject in photos or videos. It also supports broadcast of a bothie live video on Facebook and YouTube.

Price and Availability

The Nokia 7 initially launched in China with a retail price of CNY 2,499 for the 4GB version, and CNY 2,699 for the 6GB version. That’s roughly PHP 19,500 and PHP 21,000, respectively when converted to local pricing.

There has been no advise as of yet if it will be available in the Philippines. But seeing how active HMD Global has been in the country, there’s a big chance of a local appearance.
