Online tools you can use while working at home

The enhanced quarantine was implemented to help flatten the curve and stop the COVID-19 virus. This meant most of us are not allowed to go out of the house, let alone travel to work.

For those of us navigating our homes for work and study, PLDT Home WiFi has compiled a list of free online tools you can use to successfully manage your workflow:

  1. Free apps for virtual meetings. If you’re working from home and need to meet with a group of co-workers, there are a lot of free software to help you do just that. You can use software like Google Hangouts, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and even Facebook Messenger. These will allow you to have e-meetings with options to use video or share virtual presentations and files.
  2. Free apps for productivity. There’s a number of free apps you can use for file-sharing like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, WeTransfer, and Dropbox. For documents, Google has you covered with Docs, Slides, and Sheets. You can use these apps on your mobile phone or desktop via the Chrome web browser.
  3. Free educational tools. YouTube is one of the best places to start with billion of videos to learn from. There’s also Audible, who recently offered a catalog of free-to-listen audio books fro children, tweens and teens. And then there’s Google Street View’s Arts and Culture section that offers free virtual tours and exhibits in places such as the Eiffel Tower, the British Museum, the Linares Mansion in Iloilo, and the National Museum of the Philippines.
  4. Free access to government and news sites. In light of the COVID-19 situation, lot of relevant websites are free to access on mobile phones. These include the following:
