Qualcomm announces 100W+ Quick Charge 5

Qualcomm announces Quick Charge 5. Its latest charging solution supports 100 watts that can charge devices to 50% in just 5 minutes.

Quick Charge 5 is Qualcom’s latest standard for charging performance. Compared to Quick Charge 4, it boasts better thermal output (runs 10-degrees cooler), improved efficiency (70% more efficient), and faster charging times (4 times faster).

Quick Charge 5 also supports Dual/Triple Charge technology. To put it simply, it supports dual or triple connected batteries in a series, charging each cell separately to increase voltage.

The technology also features adaptive input voltage, INOV4, Qualcomm Battery Saver and the new Qualcomm Smart Identification of Adapter Capabilities technology, which work together to maximize charging efficiency, increase safety and help extend battery life cycle.

As for safety measures, Quick Charge 5 has 12 separate voltage, current and temperature protections, including USB-input overvoltage protection at 25V and external power controls beyond 30V.

In addition, Quick Charge 5 is backwards compatible, and supports a wide range of devices and accessories, including recent iPhones (iPhone 7 and newer).

In July, we saw the launch of high watt fast charging solutions from different brands, such as OPPO’s 125W flash charge and realme’s UltraDart equivalent.
