As AAG submarine cable undergoes maintenance, PLDT assures continued internet connectivity

The operator of the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable announced that it has scheduled a maintenance activity for four days, from September 26, 9AM to September 30, 5AM.

According to PLDT, the activity will have minimal effect on connectivity as it assures Smart and PLDT customers of its measures in place to mitigate such situations.

For one, the telco has an alternative international submarine cable system to ensure connectivity remains stable. It has also adopted other measures such as traffic rerouting and local caching to minimize the effects on internet speeds during high traffic times.
