End of an era: FarmVille to shut down completely

FarmVille, the Facebook game that turned millions into online farmers, is set to shut down completely at the end of the year, December 31, 2020. The announcement was recently posted on its official Facebook page, with a heart felt message for players.

Adobe discontinuing distribution and updates for the Flash Player for all browsers and Facebook halting support for Flash games are two major reasons for the closure, according to Zynga.

“Following an incredible 11 years since its initial launch back in 2009, we are officially announcing the closure of the original FarmVille game on Facebook,” said Zynga in a statement.

Accordingly, in-app purchases will still be available only until November 17. Zynga advises players to use any remaining credits before December 31, 2020. The game publisher is also working on in-game activities to be announced soon that are designed to make your remaining time with FarmVille more enjoyable.
