Facebook publicly testing Dark Mode on iOS app

Facebook is finally publicly testing Dark Mode on iOS in preparation for a global rollout. Last July, the social network started testing to a small number of iOS users, and it looks like they are nearing a full roll out.

Dark Mode is meant to lessen glare on screens and was first made available to Facebook for computers. The news is more than welcome, considering their other apps — Instagram, Whatsapp and Messenger (along with rivals Twitter and Google) — have already gotten it for some time now.

Just to be clear, the feature is not yet available for everyone. But since the public testing has started, it means that an official roll out is coming soon.

If you want to check if you are part of the testing, you can check your Facebook app. You can follow these steps to activate:

  1. Open your Facebook app.
  2. Tap Menu. Its the three lines on the lower right of the navigation bar.
  3. Go to Settings & Privacy.
  4. Go to Dark Mode and turn it on.

I currently do not have an iPhone so I haven’t tried this yet. And my iPad doesn’t seem to have it in the settings.

Anyway, for those who have Dark Mode on their Facebook app, let us know in the comments below.
